Rising into Power: Harnessing Persephone in Your Chart

In this week's episode we explore one aspect of your Persephone placement in your chart - how avoiding your shadow in your maidenhood may be keeping you from going after your dreams. This week is a deep exploration into the avoidance of pain, shadows, and depths and staying in naivety.

Persephone, in mythology, is associated with the cycle of death and rebirth, and the reclamation of power. In astrology, while Persephone is not a traditional planet or asteroid, you can work with her as a symbolic representation of transformation, the journey to the underworld to find your inner power, naivety and the cycles of life and death.

1. How over protection & being smothered may be holding you back from living your purpose:

On the low octave, Persephone in your chart can speak to the energy of not knowing the self, and naivety and where you are completely unaware of your own powerlessness in your life. The overprotective mother, and often over protective self can shield you from seeing painful truths, like that of Demeter keeping Persephone in a state of blissful naivety in the myths. At its highest, Persephone is a frequency that can show you how you can reclaim your power by going into the shadow to release the bondage, protection, and smothering. Persephone's journey, though painful, leads her into the underworld where she finds her sovereignty and self. It is in the underworld where she finds her true power, potential, and purpose as Queen of the Underworld.

2. Where you’ll have to go to hell and back to find your power:

Persephone’s placement in your chart will show you how your naivety or unawareness, or an unwillingness to look beyond into the shadows, may be holding you back from everything that's outside of that view. It's really when we are pulled into our spiritual awakenings - these big hard dark nights of the soul, that we find our purpose, we find our power and we find ourselves. Persephone shows us where we might not be looking for the truth about ourselves, or the truth around our stories.

We don't go happily into the transformation process, we don't go happily into the moments where we know we're going to disintegrate and fall apart and energetically have a death period. We're dragged into those moments, right? Often it's shocking experiences or unexpected things happen in our lives, and suddenly everything's different. But inside of that, everything's different, the moment you find yourself. And inside of finding yourself, you find your purpose.

3. Your journey from Maidenhood to Queendom

The maiden is unaware of what she needs and how she needs to get there. In our maiden phases we often aren’t clear about who we are, what we desire, and there is always a moment where life pivotally changes through the death of the maiden and the birth of the mother, for now we’re going to work with the mother being the Queen.

Persephone in your chart shows where you must move from blissful naivety to finding out who you truly are and owning that you have a higher purpose here on earth - something you may not have even realized while you were in your maidenhood. This is a place where you must meet the darkness, move through deep transformation and alchemy before crowning yourself and owning your purpose.

It’s messy, painful, beautiful, and liberating. This might be somewhere you have not been willing or ready to look into the shadow in order to really achieve that Queen status.
