Jupiter in Cancer 2025–2026: Unlocking Ancestral Healing, Emotional Growth & The Mother Wound
✧ Jupiter in Cancer: Root, Rise, and Reclaim
Jupiter enters Cancer June 9th 2025 at 2:05 PM Pacific until June 30th 2026
Jupiter, the planet of growth, abundance, and deep learning, shifts into Cancer, asking us to expand not by going out, but by going in.
Cancer is the sign of the home, the nest, family, ancestry, the root of the chart, and the archetype of the Mother. This is one of the places in the chart where we can understand Ancestral Karma and the deeper connected work we are doing here in the realm of our lineage (check out The Decoding your Ancestral Karma Guide here.)
Cancer invites you to go inward, go into your subconscious, your ancestry, your home and uncover what that rooted sense of being mothered from the inside feels like. (Fun fact the North Node was in Cancer when we all got locked down in our homes in 2020.) Cancers job is to carry on the bloodline, keep the family safe, and nurture and secure its clan through any means possible. This cardinal water sign is that of initiating generational and subconscious information in order to set a solid enough foundation for you to go out into the world.
In traditional astrology Jupiter is Exalted in Cancer, aka, it’s happy as a clam in this sign. When Jupiter expands the energy of Cancer it expands the focus around emotional intelligence, creating safe spaces, sharpening the focus on what “home” means through your chart, working through deep inner child work and cultivating growth around nurturing.
Because Jupiter expands everything it touches, it will naturally bring a highlighted focus to the deeply healing energy that can be Cancer both collectively and personally.
And yet, when we really look at the spectrum of possibility this transit will also bring deep expansion to any wounds that are experienced around family, roots, inner subconscious work, and healing emotional intelligence.
As with all things, collectively we will see both the wound and possibility. Personally you will experience the same. What’s important is to keep your discernment and clarity around what you’re experiencing, where it’s coming from, and how it’s making you grow at this time.
Where and how this expresses will be entirely based on where this transit is happening in your chart, and what Jupiter activates through its ride over the next year.
✧ High + Low Octaves of Jupiter in Cancer
The high octave:
Boundless compassion and empathy
Nurturing others from a place of deep wisdom
Healing the inner child and maternal lineage
Creating safe, sacred, and abundant homes
Feeling emotionally and spiritually protected
The low octave:
Over-giving or rescuing others to feel needed
Emotional overindulgence or attachment
Holding onto the past or family karma too tightly
Using comfort (food, nesting, caretaking) to avoid growth
✧ Jupiter's Role: Expansion, Belief, and Beyond
Expansion and Growth: Jupiter is associated with the principles of growth, expansion, and gaining knowledge. What Jupiter touches encourages learning and the broadening of horizons, whether through travel, education, or spiritual pursuits. In some way you are ushered into a quest to reach no horizons.
Luck and Abundance: Often referred to as the "Great Benefic," Jupiter is linked to good fortune, luck, and abundance. It is believed to bring opportunities for prosperity and success. Don’t let this confuse you, however, as Jupiter expands all that it touches. It doesn’t have the discernment to only expand what you deem as “good”. Jupiter will expand your pain points as much as it will expand the beauty of things. You always have the choice on which octave to engage with.
Wisdom and Philosophy: Jupiter governs higher education, philosophy, and religion. It inspires a search for meaning, wisdom, and understanding of life's larger questions. Where Jupiter activates you will be a place you must be willing to change the way you see things, your deep beliefs, and start becoming more curious as your vision of reality grows.
Law and Morality: Jupiter has a strong connection to law, ethics, and morality. It influences our sense of justice, fairness, and the principles by which we live. What Jupiter activates in your chart will help you understand how important these things are to you, where you might feel more called to speak up around these topics, and what might make you inflate your passion around world issues.
Generosity and Benevolence: This planet is associated with generosity, kindness, and a charitable spirit. It promotes altruism and the desire to help others, but be aware of the part of Jupiter that goes overboard. When imbalanced this can lead to empty pockets, and nothing left for you.
Optimism and Enthusiasm: Jupiter encourages a positive outlook, optimism, and enthusiasm. It fosters confidence and the belief that things will improve. Whatever Jupiter touches in your chart will be influenced with the feeling of possibility, as Jupiter inspires the great vision of what is possible. It can be one of the most powerful planets to call in when you are feeling hopeless.
Faith and Spirituality: Jupiter is also linked to faith, spirituality, and religious beliefs. It encourages a deeper connection to spiritual practices and the divine, but it can also encourage dogmatic thinking and fervent beliefs. It’s important to be aware of what beliefs Jupiter is inflating, the passion around them, and not becoming the “guru” in a toxic way. Righteousness and spiritual zealotism can get out of hand when Jupiter is not in check.
So remember… everything Jupiter touches it expands and everything in the cosmos has a high and low octave expression. This means even the most positive of planets, like Jupiter, can bring about the expansion of our wounds. And at the core of my work is the Knowing that being willing to see the expanded hurt can be the key to the deepest healing.
✧ The Mother Wound + Karmic Lineage Work
Anyone who has the Jupiter in Cancer or the Moon conjunct Jupiter (my natal placement in Leo) can tell you that this signature brings BIG feelings around Mom, Grandmother, and the deep connection to the matriarchal line. Emotions are inflated, feelings are big, and the bigness of the Mother can be all consuming, wonderful, and awful all at once. Mother is mentor, family can initiate deep growth, and the quest of liberation in lineage is found here.
When Jupiter activates energies in the chart through aspect, or transit it will inflate that energy. This means it can bring abundance, medicine, mentorship, and so much growth through the relationship found here. But it also means deep wounding can get activated by the idealistic belief around the Mother, around nourishment, and around the planet being highlighted. This is where we find the Mother Wound, especially when we’re working with planets such as Chiron, Saturn, Pluto, Uranus, the Moon and more.
The Mother Wound brings up feelings of abandonment, feminine imbalances, deep bonding, the rejection of mother or ancestry, and even feelings of being unloveable, unsafe, or issues with self nourishment/nurturance.
The Mother Wound refers to the emotional pain or unresolved issues you may carry stemming from their relationship with your mother or primary maternal figure or your matriarchy. Jupiter in Cancer may highlight this as it transits your chart. Please remember, not everyone is working with the Mother Wound in this life, and not everyone is working with it in the same way.
The Mother Wound is found in the ways in which you may have been affected by your mother's parenting style, behaviour, or emotional availability, which can lead to deep-seated emotional patterns and beliefs. During Jupiter's transit through Cancer there is opportunity to uncover deep medicine, healing, expansion and dive into the opportunity for growth around the wounds presented to you. Trusting in the divine possibilities of the knowledge presented to you by The Great Mentor, aka, Jupiter, will you allow yourself to expand and grow or stay stuck and stagnant in the past (aka, the pitfall of Cancer.)
This isn’t just about your relationship to your mother.
It’s about your relationship to the great mother.
When working with Cancer your own ability or inability to mother, nurture, and hold yourself is brought to the forefront as well as your need to mother others.

Where in my life do I overgive in hopes of being loved, needed, or safe?
What am I really seeking underneath the giving?How do I use comfort (food, caretaking, control of the home, nostalgia) to avoid discomfort or growth?
What am I afraid might happen if I left the comfort zone?What expectations did I unconsciously place on others to ‘mother’ me?
How can I reclaim that need and give it to myself?What part of me still believes it’s dangerous or selfish to outgrow my family or ancestral story?
What permission do I need to set myself free?What would it look like to become the mother I always needed for myself, today?
What does that version of me look like, feel like, sound like?

Jupiter will retrograde from November 11th, 2025 at 25º to March 11th, 2026 at 15º, inviting you to reflect on the inner lessons of safety, home, and emotional nourishment. This retrograde is a key window for healing ancestral and maternal karma. You will be invited to turn even more inward at this time.
